Portugal
– or “Sportugal” as the Portuguese Tourist
Board sometimes labels it – has some of the world’s
finest golf courses and best weather. A long and spectacular
coastline, washed by the Atlantic surf, attracts vacationers
from all over Europe and, like Spain's Costa del Sol,
fine restaurants and hotels cater to their needs. Best
times to travel are March to June and mid-September to
mid-November; avoid July and August (too hot). Fly to
Faro via Lisbon for The Algarve or direct into Lisbon
for the Grand Tour.
