MIDNIGHT
GOLF
In the far north of Scotland
it's possible to play golf 24 hours a day in high summer. John and
Arlette Banister, the creative owners of Ackergill Tower, have once
again lured back TV commentator and ex-Ryder Cup star Ronan Rafferty
to host another long weekend of fun golf in high summer. Teaching guru
Scott Cranfield will also be on hand so this presents an ideal opportunity
to meet some great people, benefit from expert tuition and sample the
best in Highland hospitality.
Courses include Wick - a glorious example of the old and remote - and Brora, where the gifted hand of designer James Braid is much in evidence. The greens here are still protected from grazing stock by low level electric fences. Royal Dornoch and Golspie are within easy reach and it would be simple to add extra days for visits to Nairn or Moray Old. Ronan Rafferty contends that the links courses of the far north are some of the most enjoyable (and best) in Britain and Ireland. And he is a firm believer in enjoying his aprés golf, too, being a wine connoisseur and a raconteur of note. Now in their third year with this exciting program Ackergill consider it to be the highlight of their calendar. Don't miss out! |
