Concentrated in the south east, within easy reach of London and Gatwick Airport, are a cluster of fine courses with famous names, such as Sunningdale, Littlestone, Princes, Wentworth - which has hosted both the World match Play Championship and the Ryder Cup - and Royal St George's, a regular Open venue.

The south west offers Westward Ho, the oldest seaside course in England, while mid England boasts the Belfry, scene of the 1993 Ryder Cup.
