Machrie Golf Club in West Scotland |
Machrie Hotel and Golf Links is situated on the
Isle of Islay, off the west coast of Scotland
and 30 minutes flying time from Glasgow. A
traditionalist's delight with acres of wonderful
duneland, windswept, sandy beaches and Atlantic
Ocean views. Founded in 1891 the course was
designed by Willie Campbell with revisions
by Donald Steel. The inaugural Western Isles
Open in 1911 offered a purse five times greater
than the (British) Open Championship of the
day.
